Random Thoughts

  • I still say "you're welcome," when people don't thank me for, say, holding a door open.
  • Do children write thank you notes any more? Or was there a law passed that outlaws it?
  • I had a dream that I won $1 million playing poker.  In one sitting.
  • I wonder what Princess Diana would look like today.
  • I can't decide how I truly feel about bumper stickers.
  • Why does only one side of my head get stuffy?

Oh Deer

This is what I saw from my kitchen window this morning. Taken with a cheap point and shoot camera on zoom thru the window.  Still it is very beautiful.  The Wabash River in July.

Still around

I am battling  a wicked case of the blahs and I now have a canker sore on the side of my tongue.  Pretty, huh? I am sure I will sprout a few hairy warts on my nose by the end of the day.

All this brings to mind an obituary I read the other day, for a 68 year old woman.  Her daughter wrote that she "passed into her next dimension" with her family at her side.  And that since her mother "claimed that she was going to live to be 180, they were all understandably shocked."  For this reason I have already written my obit. Silly as that may sound.

Free Time

Thought I would take a minute and show you what I do in my free time. I was turned onto this by a friend and started doing it and have found such satisfaction and comfort in them.  They are called Prayer Shawls and are any color and stitch combination.  We make the shawls, then the Prayer team at church prays over them and passes them out to any one who is in need. Need can be anything from diagnosis of disease  to a death in the family. My last group of them went to the nursing home.  Where 5 lovely people were comforted. ( I have done this for several years and will always accept donated yarn. It takes about 12 oz per shawl.)  In the  photo are the latest recipients. I removed the names.        You can read about it HERE

Matter of time

I come from a long line of long lived women. My great grandmother Strong lived to well over 100 years.  My Grandmother Frazier lived to the ripe old age of 104.
My mother suffered a stroke in June and she then turned 94 on the 15th.
She took a turn for the worse last Friday.
It is just a matter of time now.
Mom with 3 of her 6 great grandchildren. Taken when Greg was home from Australia.

    Carrot

Morgan and her lighting bug Carrot.  She insisted her daddy read him a bed time story last night. Sadly, Carrot passed away peacefully in his sleep sometime this morning. RIP Carrot.

Spam is more than canned meat

I get a lot of spam in my email accounts like most other people do.  I don’t exactly know how the spammers get some of my addresses, but they always manage to do so after awhile.  I still do not fully understand the whole concept of sending huge number of the same email over and over again is supposed to be good advertising.  Yes, I realize it is usually for male-enhancement pills and dating sites and I know that some people (somewhere around 5%) actually do respond to some of the spam.  Since email is cheap I can see how the profit outweighs the cost, one person buying the product (and many times it is a legitimate product if not a reputable one) can finance millions of emails.
But I really don’t understand spamming little known and sparsely read blogs like mine.
