5 on Friday

1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have?
I am really very content with my life now and honestly can’t think of much I have missed in  life.

2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest?
No. I would never just come out and say it was awful, what sort of person would do that. I would never want to hurt their feelings or make them feel bad about themselves. I would say something about it makes your eyes look so pretty .. but would never say it was horrid. There is always something nice to say.

3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn’t? What happened?
Yes and it was terrible enough to end the friendship. I will not go into details because it involved a friend I was really close to and it was really painful for me. I was very disappointed in her.

4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why?
I really don’t know, I like the one I’m living in now. If I had to pick one I guess it would be from Gone With the Wind . That way I would have  a handsome  hero, Well  Hello Rhett…….

5. What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted?
I am just so darn talented that I can’t think of any. The skill I need is to really tell if someone is lying. I am one of those people that take everything a person tells me the truth. I trust everyone.. unfortunately

Try to understand me

I've been chronically ill for the past 14+yrs.. everyday is a challenge but at least I still have my peace of mind and have learned to take not even the smallest things for granted, everyday really is a gift. I try to always have a positive outlook on life, smiling and always thinking that today is just a bad day, but I will be fine tomorrow. I have struggled and sometimes still struggle with that. It is so easy to be hard on ourselves. It is something that is an ongoing struggle--we always want to do more than we can. Every time I see one more thing I can't do,  I find the only way to save my sanity is to search for something I CAN do. Some days are easier than others, but on the days that aren't, I've had to learn to try to forgive "me", and also try to forgive both my body and my life for this. I struggle every day with my disability that continues to worsen. I will fight to stay on my own in my own home.  Here I can look out the window or sit on the patio and see the birds and trees and the river  behind my home. I don't want pity, I want understanding. I am a work in progress.

5 on Friday

1. What is one thing you don’t like about your body?
Depleted lung capacity. Having COPD is the pits.

2. What are two things you love about your body?
My brain and my brown eyes. Need more brain. Love is a very strong term is more like what I sort of like about my body.

3. What are three things you want to change about your home?
new carpet, granite counter top, and less dust.

4. What are four books you want to read this year?
I tend to read biographies and historical fiction. I don’t have any books on my list yet. I usually just browse the digital library and find something interesting.

 5. What are five promises you have kept to yourself?
Not lose my temper as often, still working on that one. Finish my craft projects in a timely matter, okay so far. Become immortal, having problems with that one but I will keep trying.

By any other name:

That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
– Romeo and Juliet. Act ii. Sc. 2.

I was reading an article on baby names (I was just browsing, not interested in any more children thank you), and the article listed names that you should not give your child. The were…
Norbert
Bertha
Delbert
Hortense
Hyman

First of all, who in there right mind would name a child after a female body part! It sounds like a Seinfeld episode.
The article goes on to suggest name that you might want to use instead…
Pax
Eden
Indigo
Lavender
Jazz
Cadence
Madrigal
Luna
Vero (Italian for “truth”)

These names are just as bad. Imagine the teasing a kid with the name Luna would get (“Look, it's a Luna-tick.”).
Just be careful of the names you give your children. Use names like Michael, Gregory, Gary, James (always liked that name), John, Joelle (has a nice ring to it), Angela, Mary (always a safe and pious name) or Michele (one or two l’s optional).
And don’t call your child Dilbert unless you are willing to stock up on ties that curl up on the end.

    Huh?

You know that sometimes you say something stupid, your mind is thinking  this and then you mouth says something different.  Your mind may be about 5 sentences beyond the point that your mouth is and the mind does not want to wait for the mouth to catch up.  In those cases the mouth gets confused and starts spouting out a string of words for which the brain did not send signals. Take the title for instance, I was talking about a politician when I got to what he said along the “if wishes were horses” line.  Somewhere between my brain and mouth, “if horses were wishes all beggars would ride” because “if birds had wings they would fly”. Yeah, I am still trying to figure that one out.

    Sleep

It seems my good friend Sleep and I don't get much alone time. That's a real shame, too. Sleep is a good friend of mine. Often, Sleep gives me wonderfully vivid dreams. Occasionally, we quarrel, and I've awakened with screams. That doesn't happen real often, but it does. Other times I have just woke in tears. But most of the time, Sleep and I get along just fine. If we would only be left alone.
