NIMBY

This is a very difficult subject. A sex offender is set to move into our little town. He has purchased a house and will move in soon. He has spent 10 yrs in jail and has been out over a year. I live in Podunk, so I will experience first-hand the changes this has made. Not pretty at all. Some days I am mad as hell. Other days, I shake my head in sorrow I realize that our country's system is set up so that most offenders will not move beyond where they are now. This is a small safe town, one you can let your kids walk to the park, go to the store and get ice cream with out worrying. Everything will soon change.

It’s difficult to understand this, but this is the new reality for our town. It's easy to sit around and say, "Why did he pick our town?" Many of us are just a stone's throw away from this person’s home. Some say he has paid his debt to society and we should give him a fresh start..Easier said than done in today's world.

I think my feelings are really appropriate. It is very hard to see my neighborhood change.

This is sadly a case when the beliefs of ONE trump the rights of everyone else...
Look at the ACLU...they always champion causes for "the one" while ignoring everyone else.

When rules comes down to what ONE person wants, it louses it up for the REST of us...make no mistake.

They should POST a sign on this guy's property...a nice big WARNING sign.
Make him the pariah that he chooses to be.
Then, maybe others wonl;t want to follow in his footsteps.

Yeah, I like to sitr th pot now and again...

Have a great week
