Trust

Trust me.
Yeah, right. Whenever anyone says that to me I want run the other way. And I bet most of you do too. It is a fact of life that trust is something precious to all of us and affects us in almost all aspects of our lives.

Trust is a big topic because it is so universal. Whom do you trust? I trusted my husband implicitly and was betrayed.

We trust the dentist to make sure we are numb before he fixes our cavities, we trust the doctor to make a diagnosis to make us well. We trust that our food is safe, we trust the mechanic who works on our car.

We have to trust whether we want to or not. I can’t go thru my life worrying about getting screwed over all the time. It is also important that we are trust worthy. and that we teach our children the value and meaning of trust.

Christmas 2011 -- Birth of a New Tradition

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Oh.... Yes there is!
It is time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?
Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber?
Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.
Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.
Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the Benjamins on a Chinese-made flat-screen TV? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.
There are a gazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.
How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?
Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.
My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.
OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.
Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theatre.
Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Give the kids gift certificates to the movies, the local laser tag facility, the roller rink, fast food joints, THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!
Honestly people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.
You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US (We the People), encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we could not imagine.
Think like an AMERICAN,,,,or a CANADIAN,,,,or an AUSSIE this year! We're all in the same boat!

I think this makes so much sense. (from an email)

Kim

The latest antics of the Kardashian clan is being passed off as “news” Well, once again, they are in the '”news.”

They are making headlines over Kim’s failed “marriage.” I say, anyone who thought this farce of a marriage between Kim and her latest boy toy would last forever, all I can say, either you are either a hopeless romantic or really stupid.

Exactly why is this “news?” I think the only remotely surprising thing about this is that it lasted a full 72 days.

Kim is being paid big bucks to make a spectacle of her self in public. According to some reports that this wedding costs around $20 million USD. Not one cent came from either them or their families. And indeed they may have even made a few bucks out of it for themselves. I guess it beats working at a real job since she has no real talent. She gets to travel, party, remove her clothes and money magically appears in her checking account.

My problem is the supposedly smart people who are making these decisions to pay for this insanity. Can any one explain to me how anyone can flush down $20 million USD for a fake wedding? How much money is wasted each year by our trash TV CEO’s on this garbage?

I know, I know, there are CEO’s out there drawing huge salaries while 9% of population is looking for work. But they are at least doing productive work for the money and that work benefits many many people. We are getting value for their salaries. From this trash TV family we are getting nothing.

Anyone agree with me?

My 1-Day Employment

ATT00001

So after landing my new job as a Wal*Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than one day.

About two hours into my first day on the job, A very loud, unattractive, mean acting woman walked into the store with here two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.

I said pleasantly. “Good Morning and welcome to Wal*Mart. Nice children you have are they twins?”

The ugly woman stopped yelling at the children long enough to say “ Hell no, they ain’t twins. The oldest is 9, and the other one is 7. Why the hell would you think they are twins? Are you blind or stupid?”

So I replied, “ I’m neither blind nor stupid. Ma’am I just couldn’t believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal*Mart.”

My Supervisor said I probably wasn’t cut out for the is line of work.

(from an email) I love Maxine!

I wonder

There are those great issues of global warming and poverty but then again I have questions on things that are simple...that are possibly easier to answer. Here are some of the things I wonder about....
1. When someone falls down, why do people ask, "Did you hurt yourself?" Of course, they hurt themselves. They FELL down!
2. In the phrase "To be or not to be, that is the question"....to be what? A frog? A cookie? A human being?
3. Why is a salt shaker called a shaker and not a sprinkler?
4. Who thought of the name, "hot dog"? It bears no resemblance to a dog.
5. Why do waiters and waitresses come to your table every 5 minutes to ask if everything is okay? I think it's a bit overkill if you ask me. If they are that curious, they may as well pull up a chair and join me. I'll give them the play by play detail.
6. Why do dogs lick themselves?
7. Why DO they call those hot wings, buffalo wings?
8. Why do the NFL players get paid so much money to throw a ball around?
9. When I was a kid, my mom used to warn me to stop being hardheaded. What exactly is the difference between a hard head and a soft head?
10. Why do people complain that sloppy joes are so messy?
11. Why does Walmart hire non-English speaking employees? If I get asked one more time if I speak English and where the sugar is, I'm going to ask to be put on their payroll.
12. Why do older people wear such loud smelling perfume?
