Bubble Wrap

This is a pretty pointless entry, but I am posting it out of curiosity.
What do you think/feel when someone tells you that they will pray for you? Do you feel thankful, blessed, or comforted? Or do you feel empty, puzzled, or awkward?
Do you really feel like it makes any difference? I mean, everything is in God's hands, right? So, will praying actually do anything? Will it change God's mind? Will it make him mad when you ask for things?
I will tell you my take on it, because, after all, this is  blog. :-)
I feel like prayer is almost like bubble wrap. Whether prayer changes your circumstances or not, I feel it will at least make things easier to deal with. If you had to fall down a flight of stairs, wouldn't you prefer it to happen while wrapped up in bubble wrap? Will it still hurt? Probably, but maybe not as much.
Let me know your thoughts, please.

This puzzles me too.

I don't know that prayer changes God's mind, but it's hard to say. Some things in scripture seem to indicate that our petitions can move him (as in Nineveh) and other times he flat says "no" (Paul's thorn in the flesh).

As far as others praying for me or I them, I often wonder what good it does do, but Jesus prays for his disciples and Paul says he prayed for the churches.

I look forward to what others think here.

As a former Sunday School teacher (and fill-in preacher...yes, another lifetime of mine), I'm gonna run with Ma on this one.

The Bible states that prayer DOES change things...it MATTERS, whether you're a disciple, a follower, or even a heathen (as Paul once was).

Still, one does have to remember that all things happen in GOD'S own time, and by HIS will and direction for our lives, rather than the way we always want things to pan out.

If others want to pray for me or for a circumstance in my life...go for it!
I welcome it.
I can use ALL the "help" I can get..besides, my Guardian Angel needs some time off now and then...

And that's why I will always offer up prayers for those IN NEED...even if I never met them or don't even know who they are.

I think THEY could use a "leg up" just as much (and perhaps even more).

Very good post...lots to think upon.

Stay safe (and keep cool) down there.

I am comforted when I am receiving prayer... and I try to remember regularly to pray for those who pray for me.

Well, I am just catching up after being out of town, so here are my thoughts.
When people say they will pray for you not ALL people really will. I know this because I know not all people even pray. That being said, it would depend on who says it to me. I have certain people in my life that I know when they say they will pray for me, I know they will.
I have a friend who I pray with. We get together once a week & pray for our families & our friends & our church.
When either of us is struggling with something we ask the other to say a special prayer.
I pray everyday & I do believe in the power of prayer. I am a living testamony of how it works, & my husband is also.
Thanks for posting this. Loved it!
Your friend who prays for you.
