Royal Wedding

Random Thoughts:

Are they better prepared for their lives together than his parents, who were rushed together in less than a year? William and Kate have had nine years to figure things out between them.

Most of the hoopla about "The Royal Wedding" fits neatly into the category I call "WHO GIVES A RATS ARSE".

Some have mentioned how many hungry children could have been fed with the money spent on this wedding. Well that could be said about a lot of things in life where people have excess and spend it on themselves. Fact is, there will always be those in need and those that have more than they will ever need. That's life. Might not be fair, but that is the way that it is.

I can't hate on the happy couple at all. Imagine walking down that aisle, saying your vows and kissing your new hubby in front of millions of people. They pulled it off better than most. I would have broke out in a mad sweat - tripped coming down the aisle, forgotten the words. And she was completely sober to boot.

OK OK I confess I did watch some of it, her dress was beautiful. It reminded me very much of Princess Grace of Monaco, very demure, not prissy, clean lines, detailed but not ornate or fussy. (copies of the dress are being made by child labor in Chinese sweatshops as I type this) She was gorgeous, he was handsome and my wish is for them to live long and happy lives.

The bottom line is this: The world came together to celebrate a wonderful moment. Is it not all that important to the United States, but it does show is that there is still good in the world. If anything this event lets us all forget all that is wrong in the world if only for a moment.

Hope

A phrase caught my attention yesterday when I saw it on a book jacket on Amazon.com It said, "Hope is not a plan."

I think I have lived on HOPE my whole adult life.

  • I hope I can pay the bills
  • I hope I can survive yet another setback
  • I hope I am doing the right thing
  • I hope I can find the right words
  • I hope I can live a long life

While there is nothing wrong in living with hope, merely having hope is not a plan. And when you have nothing but hope or a wish, well...then I think you have to go find a plan.

And a word about our friends in the south:

These storms are a powerful reminder that we are not in charge. My heart hurts for those in the path of the tornado's, and wonder how fast our country will be there to help our own. God be with those all involved and give them strength to endure this hardship. My thoughts are with those who have borne the brunt of this weather.

Do you ever...?

Do you ever sit on your couch and do nothing instead of doing the 534 things you need to get done?
Do you ever resolve to eat better ever night, and every morning eat something chocolate by 10 am?
Do you ever swear you are NOT going to be the person that is always late?
Do you ever envy other people's nice cars while you have beaters?
Do you ever eat popcorn for dinner?
Do you ever waste time blogging, and start to think you might have an addiction?
Do you ever want a big house, a big yard, and a big salary?
I do.

Grandpa At The Store....

A woman in a supermarket is following a grandfather and his badly behaved
3 year-old grandson. It's obvious to her that he has his hands full with the child screaming
for sweets in the sweet aisle, biscuits in the biscuit aisle; and for fruit, cereal and pop in the other aisles. Meanwhile, Granddad is working his way around, saying in a controlled voice, "Easy, William, we won't be long . .. . easy, boy." Another outburst, and she hears the granddad calmly say, "It's okay, William, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy." At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Granddad says again in a controlled voice, "William, William, relax
buddy, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, William."
Very impressed, the woman goes outside where the grandfather is loading
his groceries and the boy into the car. She said to the elderly gentleman, "It's none of my business, but you were amazing in there.. I don't know how you did it. That whole time,
you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got,
you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa."
"Thanks," said the grandfather, "but I'm William ... .. . the little bastard's name is Kevin."
