I love Shel Silverstein for the short, creative ditties written in his books. Here is one from a Light in the Attic.
THE LITTLE BOY AND THE OLD MAN
Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the little old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

Yeah, it makes me long for those days when we revered those older than us...and now I'm getting there myself, and I see a total ignorance of the "elders" among us...those WE can STILL learn a lot from.
Very good post.
Stay safe down there.
So True. When in school I did an internship at an nursing home and there were so many people there that would never ever get a visit or phone call. It broke my heart.
Blessings, Joanne
